Peaty Malt

10 year old Talisker. Not as peaty as one would hope for, but yummy still. Ben Hammersley:

For peat, it has to be Laphroaig 10 or Lagavulin 16. I can't wait untill Christmas...

Good ones fer shure, but you gotta expand your horizons. :-) Talisker 10, Caol Ila 18, Laphroaig 15 are good alternatives. If you can live without the peat, and just want a good whisky, I would also recommend Aberlour 21 (although 10 works as well, and the cask strength version rocks) and Bruichladdich 17 (15 is ok too if you can't find 17). All of the above would make for a warm and jolly christmas season!

On a business trip to Edinburgh, Scotland a couple of years ago, I had a chance to drink some 20 year old Lagavulin. It's amazing what four years will do. That drink really opened my eyes to Scotch. Hmm, I think it's about time for another trip....
