Spotted in a comment over on Rick Hightower's blog:
"Let the business drive the technology - that is what technology is there for."
So maybe sometimes this doctrine is ok, if you're in the not-technology business - but are you sure about that? Here's the thing, most businesses are dependent on technology to function, or to actually create the markets to do business in. Looked at that way, said doctrine appeals no doubt appeals to business procurers of enterprise and smb IT, but it's a limited view. After all, who'd have thought Starbucks was in the networking business?
